Good Dog Skills: Crate Training Aug 27, 2015 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Good Dog Skills: Crate Training

Crate training uses the dog's natural instinct to seek a safe den in which to sleep. Teaching your dog to love his crate will make him a more welcome guest when you’re traveling, will give you a safe place to confine him when it’s not safe to be out and about, will give you more options in case of emergencies, and will make him comfortable when he has to spend the day at the vet or the groomer’s.

When you teach your dog to associate pleasant things with his crate, it will become a stress-relieving, go-to safe place.  In addition, because the dog's instinct is not to soil his own nest, the crate is a great tool for housebreaking.

Join this class to learn how to help your dog love his crate. This class will focus on teaching the dog to find the crate rewarding, teaching the dog to be quiet when in the crate, teaching the dog to wait in the crate until released and in general, giving the dog one more situation where self-control will result in “what the dog wants!”

The price of this class is $30 for a 60-minute class and must be prepaid to guarantee your reservation. If you have purchased a package of four classes, this will count as one class.

If you want to work on more than one Good Dog Skill, we offer a package of four classes for $100 (a $20 savings), and you may select any four of the eight Good Dog Skills classes listed below. Good Dog Skills: Stay Aug 26, 2015 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Good Dog Skills: Stay

Stay there. If it’s a simple concept, why does it seem so hard to do? Stays build on your foundation of Sit and Down to contribute to a well-behaved dog. When your dog will hold a position, you can enjoy coffee with friends, watch the kids at the park or catch up on emails.

Join this class to learn how to extend the length of time your dog can hold a stay, expand the distance you can move away from your dog and teach your dog how to hold his position even in the face of some distractions.

The price of this class is $30 for a 60-minute class and must be prepaid to guarantee your reservation. If you have purchased a package of four classes, this will count as one class.
