Take Me Home Pet Rescue presents “A Home of Their Own,” a cocktail “paw”ty hosted by Classic BMW on October 18, 2014 from 7 pm to 10 pm. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as they bid on amazing Silent Auction items all while playing a variety of Casino games. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at www.ahomeoftheirown.org.
“Every year we host a variety of events, but this year’s Annual Fundraiser will take things to a whole new level”, says Elise Bissell, Executive Director, Take Me Home Pet Rescue. “Classic BMW is a beautiful location (with amazing cars!) and the casino games will give everyone another fun way to spend their time in between bidding on the incredible items available for auction.”

Founded in 2008, Take Me Home Pet Rescue helps meet the growing needs of the homeless pet population, and is located in Richardson, Texas. Rescues like Take Me Home, with your support, are able to take animals from overcrowded shelters and provide them with the appropriate medical care and a loving foster home where they can learn to enjoy life again. The proceeds of this gala will allow Take Me Home Pet Rescue to continue to make a difference in the homeless pet community through owner education and foster-based rescue. The annual fundraiser is one of the key ways Take Me Home Pet Rescue is able to rescue more animals and find them loving, forever homes.

As part of our Garland AutumnFest this year, we are incorporating at fun filled Doggy Costume Contest! We hope to have fabulous furry success this year and make it an annual part of this very popular community and family focused event. Costumes can either be handmade or store bought and dogs of any size are welcome to enter. Registration begins at 1:30 pm and all participating entrants must be registered by 2:45 pm. Look for the registration table in the middle of the downtown square.
Contest starts at 3:00 pm
ENTRY FEE IS $5 PER DOG All proceeds from contest entries will be donated to Hope Clinic Garland.

affforddl2Introduction to Positive Training (IPT) is held every week on Thursdays (7pm-8:30pm) and Saturdays (1pm-2:30pm). It is required for all of our classes at All Fur Fun that you attend this 1-2 hour long talk. It’s a human only pow-wow where head instructor Paula Weir teaches you about the primary methods employed here, as well as determines a more personal plan of action for you and your dog.
This is the opportunity to explain to us what sorts of things you know and have been told about training and working with your dog, as well as asking any questions you might have. We will teach you about clicker training, free shaping, positive reinforcement (rewarding the dog), and negative punishment (removing the reward). You will learn why there are certain methods we NEVER use in order to help our dogs understand the things we want from them.
It is also a wonderful chance for you to explain the main concerns you have with your dog, or to ask about the various classes, events, and workshops that are happening here. IPT is designed to help you hit the ground running, but most importantly, start off on the right foot.

Our sixth annual WoofStock Festival will be Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 11 AM to 6 PM in Little Elm Park (704 W. Eldorado Parkway) in Little Elm, TX.

Dogs are welcome in the park during the festival. (All dogs must be on a leash with a rabies tag). Low cost vaccines and pet microchipping will be available from local veterinarians at the entrance. 
You will enjoy the live music, food booths, car show, carnival games, bounce houses, petting zoo, and other family entertainment.
At WoofStock, visitors can help support our cause by stopping by our many vendors and winning raffle prizes or silent auction items. We will also have a mobile pet photography studio and pet costume contest.
WoofStock will have dogs for adoption at the festival. WoofStock rescues animals from local shelters and spays, neuters, vaccinates, and provides medical care for these dogs until they are adopted.
Proceeds from the festival will help WoofStock rescue more dogs by reaching its goal of providing a permanent animal rescue shelter to serve Little Elm and the surrounding communities.
